Brigido Magua

Briguido Mahua, age 64, is a respected spiritual guide from the Shipibo-Konibo community of Pauyán—also known as Paoyhan—located in the Ucayali region, Coronel Portillo province, Callería district. This community, with ancestral roots in Paococha, has long been a cradle of medicinal and spiritual wisdom. Since the age of 15, Maestro Briguido has walked the path of traditional Amazonian medicine, guided by his father, the renowned Maestro Manuel Mahua Ochabama, who passed down the sacred knowledge of ayahuasca, ícaros (healing songs), and master plants. This tradition is not only part of his family lineage—it is the living heart of his community. With over four decades of experience, Maestro Briguido leads ayahuasca ceremonies with deep reverence for the spiritual and healing principles of his culture.
